About 4 years ago, the insurance industry changed dramatically when the Affordable Care Act became law and forced changes upon the industry to which we had dedicated our careers. The law tried to reform healthcare, but we realized you needed more.
A System in Need of Positive Change
Unfortunately, all the ACA did was force fundamental changes to our business model. These changes don't seem to have worked out well for most people. While our broken healthcare system needs a positive change, lawmakers are offering little more than Band-Aids.
America's sick healthcare system needs a remarkable level of "pass through" for medical offices to function at a level that allows them to stay in business. "Pass through" is a concept in which a doctor must see a certain number of patients each day just to stay afloat. Unfortunately, that number of people is steadily increasing.

Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is an idea that establishes a different kind of doctor-patient relationship. It's like a gym membership in which you pay a monthly fee for guaranteed access and a defined block of medical services, but we are not an insurance program.
